How to find us
Arriving by public transport
From Managua you take one of the "expreso" buses with departure from the UCA-University. These buses will get you to the Central Park of Granada.
From the south(Costa Rica, Rivas, Nandnaime) the "expreso" buses take you via the Carretera Nandaime road into Granada.
Once having arrived at Granada you have the following options to continue to VelagoNicaragua:
- Taxi: tell the driver: "Final de Centro Turístico", i.e. in the southern most part of the lakeside tourism area; shouldn't cost more than 20 Córdobas per person, takes you there in 5 min.
- Bike or scooter: bikes can be rent for $5 a day (e.g. at Rider Mode Rental in Calle La Calzada street 2 ½ blocks east of cathedral, Tel. 813 2545, let them know you go to VelagoNicaragua), by bike you arrive in 15 min. - nice bike ride!; by scooter you arrive in 5 min.
- Walking: About half an hour – but the nice views are worth the effort and you can return by taxi.
Arriving by car
Arriving from the WEST: León (2 hours), Managua (1 hour), Malaya (½ hour) you reach Granada at it's northern access. There are to options for continuing to the lake and to VelagoNicaragua:
1. Travelling through city center:
This way you fierst pass the public peer of Granada ("el muelle") and then you drive through the INTUR tourist center. INTUR offers recreation facilities and therefor charges a little entrance fee. From there go south along the lake for about a mile till you reach a little roundabout. There you take the left exit and you will directly head to us.
2. Southern access – cemetery - Calle Nueva street:
Turn into Calle Nueva street (right at the cemetery's main gate) – continue this street without ever making a turn till you reach the lake. From there go south along the lake for about a mile till you reach a little roundabout. There you take the left exit and you will directly head to us.
Arriving from the SOUTH: Costa Rica (2 hours), Rivas (1,5 hours), Nandaime (1 hour) you reach the town of Granada passing the cemetery wall of Granada.
From there procede as described in "southern access - cemetery - Calle Nueva street"
Free Parking
Our place is situated in a nice rural area where you can leave your car parked without being worried. We have enough parking lots in the shadow.
